About Helen Marx Books
Helen Zanetti Marx was born in Bucharest, Romania and spent her childhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she attended the French Lycée. After graduating from Smith College in 1960, she worked as a bilingual secretary in Paris and New York. Four children later, she co-owned Thaxton & Co., a specialty retail store on Madison Avenue with Martha Dupee and in 1987 founded the Madison Avenue Fund for Children which distributed monies to children in need and today is part of the Children’s Aid Society. She began her publishing imprint with Turtle Point Press in 1996. Helen Marx Books publishes literary fiction, biographies, and works from French. In 2004, she won the French-American translation award for her work on Silbermann.
