About the Author

Jocelyn Brooke (1896-1966), literary critic for The Listener, wrote three novels known as the Orchid Trilogy. His gardening books include The Flower in Season. His short biographies of Ronald Firbank, Elizabeth Bowen and Aldous Huxley are masterful.
