Fiction Non-Fiction Poetry Turtle Point Press Helen Marx Books

Since its founding in 1990, Turtle Point Press and Helen Marx Books have delighted readers with new fiction, poetry, memoirs, translations, and rediscovered literary treasures. In 2007 our books were reviewed in The New York Times, Time Out, Los Angeles Times, Times Literary Supplement, The Australian, Lambda Literary Review, and in many other journals and blogs.

In Fall, 2008 Turtle Point Press will publish four titles. All Aboard is an irresistibly readable short story collection by Joe Ashby Porter, an author who conjures wonders from the quirkiness of ordinary Americans. All Aboard is the third Porter book to be published by Turtle Point Press. His other titles are Touch Wood and The Near Future. Devin Johnston's new poetry collection, the uncannily subtle and sonically alert  Sources will appear in September 2008. Scheduled for release in late September is Richard Howard's latest collection of poems entitled Without Saying. Here voices of myth and memory prevail, if only by means of prevarication. This collection, which includes two poems about Henry James, is the fourth book of poems by Mr Howard to be published by Turtle Point Press. His other titles include Trappings, Talking Cures, and The Silent Treatment. Finally in October, 2008 Turtle Point Press with Helen Marx Books will publish a newly uncovered short memoir entitled Dresden by Lord Berners.  In addition to Collected Tales and Fantasies, a book which is now available on demand, our presses have published three other memoirs by Lord Berners —  First Childhood, A Distant Prospect and Chateau de Resenlieu. All four books are subtle works of art — masterpieces of understatement. In them Lord Berners shows the neat precision of style and wit which typifies his musical performances.
